Why is airtight packaging so important, especially for Japanese tea?
As we explained in our previous post, steamed green tea is very rare worldwide. This may explain why many people don't know how to store it.
In truth, it oxidizes very quickly! We therefore advise you to keep it in airtight packaging and in a cool, dark place. When you buy Japanese tea, avoid tea packaged in bags like the one in the photo below. The tea spoils too quickly in it and has probably already started to oxidize before you even brought it home. Treat it like a good wine🍷
